Shatrang Online is a friend-focused chess platform created by Velovid Software. Unlike traditional chess sites, we're invite-only—meaning you only play with people you know! Create a game, share a link with friends, and play together instantly.
How do I play with friends?
Super easy! After creating your account, you can either (1) add friends directly on the platform and invite them to games, or (2) create a game and share the unique URL with anyone—they can join as a guest without even signing up!
Can my friends play without an account?
Yes! When you share a game link, your friend can play as a guest without creating an account. After the game ends, we'll show them a friendly popup encouraging them to join the community, but it's totally optional.

Playing Games
Why can't I play random opponents?
We're an invite-only platform! We believe chess is more fun and meaningful when you play with people you know. This also creates a safer, more friendly environment. Plus, as a new platform, this ensures you always have someone to play with—your friends!
How do ratings work?
We use the Glicko-2 rating system (the same professional standard used worldwide). Your rating updates after each rated game, so you can track your improvement and compete with friends!
